You have got to be kidding me... the motto of our life.
We went home! Saturday afternoon we were discharged from the hospital and Easton was doing great! We picked up some new supplies at Pediatric Home supplies and headed up north. We were home for a whopping SIXTEEN HOURS. yup. You have got to be kidding mehuh?
Easton, being an active little boy, kicked his tube into a tangle around his feet. This resulted in him kicking the port off his J tube... which isn't easily fixed. After a few hours at the Grand Itasca ER we were unable to come up with a solution. However, bless those ER doctors and nurses for trying everything they could to even get him a little food before we made the trek back to the cities. We decided we needed to come to children's Minneapolis, again.
I know, I've gotta be kidding... nope.
Little E and I started driving, had to stop twice in between Grand Rapids and Warba for
Easton. We did make it to Children's at 8pm thanks to our Wubbanub pacifiers and the Moana sound track.
We were admitted to the ER and then transferred back to the ICC with IV fluids. At 9am Radiology came and brought us down and we placed his new J. Easton has what is called a PEG-J tube. So we did not have to replace the G portion, only the J. The J tube jest needed to be rethreaded through the G tube, into the stomach, and then into the jejunum using contrast and x ray to see. He did so good the whole procedure, never cried once!
Restarted feeds. Was going good. 2 hours later, we were ready to go, ready to sign the discharge papers! Then, he started to cough and get wheezy. This usually happens when we need to vent or drain his G tube, not a big deal. I went to vent it and formula POURED out. AKA something is not right and we are not going home. This usually happens if the J is not in the jejunum but instead in the stomach. This is not the case though because we confirmed placement with X Ray. So... we wait for the doctor and more answers!
I know, I know... You have got to be kidding me.
Little Ninja is doing good. Staying strong. He hasn't had any food in the last 24 hours so he is pretty tired. He has been getting IV fluids to keep him hydrated enough. Still a happy boy though!
