(yeah that title is a high school musical reference and I hope you all got it)
Oh Little Ninja... how in the world did we go from the picture on the left to the picture on the right in just a few hours?
You may have seen that we are once again at Children's hospital, tonight. On Tuesday, Easton began not tolerating his tube feeds. This means, for some reason, his feeds are making him cramp, cry, scream, gag, and over-produce stomach acid. Like clockwork, I would try to start his 22 hour continuous feeds, and 20 min later he would be screaming. After calling and trialing a few things with our doctors at Minnesota Gastroenterology, things just weren't getting better. Finally, the determined something more drastic needed to be done so we were advised to come down to the Children's hospital ER. Here, they decided to admit us back into the ICC.
Easton is small, very small, and his health is fairly fragile. So not eating the correct amount of calories for even a few days really effects him. He is very tired and not himself just after 2 days. This makes it even more imperative that he doesn't become dehydrated or malnourished. It may seem a little drastic to be admitted to the hospital after only a day or two of bad eating, but for the Little Ninja, we can't let it go too long.
Looking ahead, I don't have much to tell! We won't know much until tomorrow. We will see speech and feeding therapist tomorrow as well as our GI team. There my be some test for gastric mobility. We may trial some different formulas and medicines. Who knows what will be the answer at this point! (if you have all the answers, I'm all ears!)
Quote for the day:
"They are not smaller versions of ourselves, they are bigger versions"
-off some wall at Children's Minneapolis
This could not be more true. Easton may be part me-part Evan. But he is infinitely stronger than both of us combined! He amazes me daily.
