Hey y‘all! It is crazy to think in the last week we have traveled almost 1000 miles to and from doctors appointment!
Every Wednesday, we have had feeding in Hibbing. That’s 100 miles round trip. Easton had a love-hate relationship with feeding therapy. He loves the food and the people. He hates the working hard and trying new things. Especially solid food... it’s the worst apparently.
Last Friday, we added another 400 miles to our week, with a trip o see our pediatric neurologist. Overall, it was a good appointment! Easton is developing really well and even starting to catch up alittle developmentally! He is behind a bit in his speech, but hopefully that will come with time. The biggest area of concern neurologically are these “episodes” Easton has. Imagine someone spacing out, for 15-20 seconds, but NOTHING you can do can snap them out of it. No amount of loud noises, movement, lights, and obnoxiousness makes it end. He is completely still, doesn’t even blink. When he does snap out of it, he goes right back to whatever he was doing. The worry with these instances is that they may be seizures, more specifically, absence seizures. Easton will have an EEG done next week to see if this is the case.
Today, we went and saw Easton’s Audiologist, who is also at the U of M (400 miles round trip). This trip was full of good news! Easton’s hearing so far, is great! Congenital CMV’s most notorious symptom is hearing loss. We will follow up in three months to recheck. We will continue this schedule for a few years, as CMV hearing loss can appear up to 5 years old. However, all three of the hearing tests Easton had today were perfectly within the normal range. He even left the earbuds in the whole time he needed to! We of course had to get out of the car and hospital for a bit, and stopped at hobby lobby!
Easton is battling a cold, a nasty one at that. We are hoping he will be able to stay out of the hospital and away from the germs of the clinic! He has lost some weight, but we are hoping this is just due to his cold and that he will start gaining again soon!
Thank you you for all of your continued support! We have so many more appointments in the next weeks, I’m just choosing not to think about all that traveling for now!
Have a happy thanksgiving! (Yes, Easton has a special thanksgiving outfit, complete with a turkey hat) ❤️
