The Littlest (Traveling) Ninja

Updated: Oct 25, 2018

As you may have seen, Easton and I have been traveling all over for doctors appointments and to enjoy this new warm weather. So, I thought I would give you an insight into what it takes to travel with the Littlest Ninja!

My dad always told me "prepare for the worst, but hope for the best!" Now, he said this about my golf tournaments... but I think that the same thing applies! Here is a breakdown of how we travel. Keep in mind, this is what we need to travel for one day. For more than 24 hours we have to bring things like the pack n' play, crib wedge and danny sling, as well as extra clothes and more diaper/wipes. Also, these bags are for Easton ONLY... our travel supplies are extra on top of these.

The Diaper Bag

Our diaper bag looks like any other! Nothing special. In this bag we keep...

  • Diapers

  • Wipes

  • Changing Pad

  • Diaper Cream

  • Rattle and a Toy

  • Wash Cloth

  • Extra Outfits

  • An Extra Wubbanub (best pacifier out there!)

  • Plastic Bag (Not pictured)

The Pump Bag

Because Easton's food is breast milk fortified with formula to be higher in calories, I exclusively pump. Here is what we need for that...

I have the Medela Pump In Style pump that comes in this awesome bag. Has enough room for everything I need!

  • pump (duh)

  • car compatible power cord (not pictured)

  • wall outlet power cord (not pictured)

  • batteries (not pictured)

  • pump tubing

  • 4 bottles and lids

  • 2 connectors, valves, and flanges

  • pumping bra

  • nursing cover

The Emergency Bag

Arguably the most important bag we have... but also the most rarely used. This contains all the things we MIGHT need for his pump. It contains everything we need to deal with feeding pump problems, tube clogs, or if his tube gets pulled out.

We ended up needing this bag today as Easton's tube got clogged TWICE today on our trip to the cities!

  • Extra pump and charger

  • wash cloth

  • extra formula

  • 3 extra feeding bags

  • split gauze

  • tape

  • Vaseline packets

  • 60, 10, and 5 mL syringes

  • Clog Zapper

  • Diaper

  • Medical history folder with medical supply info

  • BOOKS! (unclogging tubes can take hours... entertainment is necessary!)

The Cooler

Easton's medication has to be chilled at all times. His food must be chilled as well, however in his feeding bag it can last 4 hours. We make 24 hours worth of his breast milk/formula mix when we travel so we don't have to worry about measuring and mixing on the road.

  • 2 Large Ice Packs

  • Shaker bottle with sterile water

  • Shaker bottle with milk/formula mix

  • Reflux medication

  • any pumped milk also goes into the cooler

  • I always stick my snacks in here too!

Site Care Kit

Twice a day we have to clean Easton's stoma (where his tube enters his body), administer his reflux medication, and flush his j-tube. To do this, we need quite a bit of supplies. For this I have created this handy kit. It contains...

  • 3 mL, 5 mL , 6 mL, and 10 mL syringes

  • stoma steriod cream

  • plastic cup and wipes

  • split gauze and g tube pads

  • q-tips

  • scissors

  • flexi-track

Not too much... right? :)
